The Perfect Match by Kristan Higgins
I rarely give a five star rating to any romance novel. But any book that begins with a Pap smear on the first page has to grab your attention. And the hook stays in to the book’s very satisfactory completion.
The story’s setting is ideal – the Blue Heron Winery in the Finger Lakes region of New York state.
The motivations driving Honor Holland and Tom Barlow toward marriage are clear and direct and have nothing to do with love. But as noble as their intentions are, love finds a way to invade.
And the supporting characters are a trip – especially the eggs.
Because it is a romance the story does end with a satisfying HEA, but the characters have to work for it.
I am looking forward to the next Blue Heron novel. Kristan Higgins will need to work hard to equal or surpass The Perfect Match.
